Congratulations to PY4 student Ben Penley who was awarded the F.O. Bowman Award! We were delighted to celebrate Ben’s accomplishment virtually this year as we were not able to gather in-person for the annual awards ceremony honoring UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy Student and Faculty Award Winners due to the pandemic.
This award is presented to a student in the Research and Scholarship in Pharmacy (RASP) program in recognition of exemplary work and dedication to their mentored, in-depth longitudinal research project. Funding for this award is provided by the UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy Foundation. The award is given by Fred O. Bowman Jr., MD ’50, in honor of his father, who served as general counsel to the North Carolina Pharmaceutical Association and the North Carolina Board of Pharmacy. Details about this and other student awards can be found here on the School’s website.
Ben’s honors thesis is titled, “Characteristics of Online Pharmacies Selling Adderall and Rapid-Acting Insulins.” His faculty mentor is Dr. Sachiko Ozawa in the Practice Advancement and Clinical Education Division (PACE).
